Membership
Reasons for the Membership
We are the largest association of the consulting industry in Europe. The size and activity structure of our member companies corresponds exactly to that of the consulting market. Accordingly, we offer services for both large consultancies and specialists.
What all members have in common is that they have to go through an admission procedure in which we ask for client recommendations and quality management systems, among other things. With one goal: to enable the member companies to position themselves with the client as particularly qualified.
In addition to this "seal of approval" function, tools such as the BDU consultant database, the search option for professional articles or the cooperation in BDU think tanks enable our member firms to be found by clients in a precisely fitting manner.
There is also the function of a reliable platform for networking and continuing education in a dozen professional associations (e.g. restructuring consulting, marketing consulting, succession consulting or personnel consulting). The professional associations are not only interesting for the continuous improvement of professional expertise, they are also the basis for cooperation, for example for joint offers and projects. Other services such as information on legal and knowledge issues as well as considerable financial advantages through framework agreements (HDI professional liability insurance, Sixt, HRS) complete the arguments for joining.
In short: Membership in the BDU strengthens your perception among clients as a serious and competent consultancy and noticeably facilitates the management of your company. Last but not least, by joining you also strengthen the representation of the concerns and image of the industry as a whole vis-à-vis the public and the business community.

Requirements for membership
Membership with us is subject to proof of competence, reliability and appropriate professional experience, which in the case of sole proprietorships is provided by the applicant personally, in the case of partnerships by one of the managing partners and in the case of corporations by one of the legal representatives. The application provides for a curriculum vitae in tabular form, which must document five years of professional experience in a management position. Of these, three years in a management and/or personnel consultancy (either self-employed and/or employed with acquisition and budget responsibility).
In the case of management and/or personnel consultancies with a turnover of more than two million euros, five years of professional experience in management are also recognised if the applicant or his/her legal predecessor has already been active in the market for at least five years. In addition, three meaningful project descriptions with client recommendations from the past 18 months as well as systems for quality assurance and human resources development must be available. A self-disclosure about your company completes the information. In addition, you undertake to comply with our professional principles when you become a member.
